Antica ed assai nobile famiglia italiana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in divere regioni d'Europa e del mondo. Originaria della città di Novara, ma con residenza anche in Casale, questa nobile famiglia, nel tempo conosciuta come Pescatore, Pescatori o Piscatori, ha diramato anche in Sardegna, in Romagna, in Lombardia e nel Ticino. Le sue più antiche memorie rimandando al XVI secolo quando fu illustrata da ben cinque cavalieri di Malta, di cui Arduino, o Ardicino, creato cavaliere gerosolimitano nel 1554, morì nell'assedio di Castel Sant'Elmo nel 1565, mentre Filippo, creato cavaliere gerosolimitano nel 1576, fu poi priore in Lombardia. In Ravenna la casata è stata rappresentata dal poeta Giovambattista Pescatore, morto nel 1558, il quale ebbe un seggio al Senato di detta città.
