Antica famiglia messinese, la quale fu illustrata da un Agostino, che, il 4 maggio 1787, venne ascritto, insieme con il suoi discendenti, alla nobiltà messinese; con privilegio dato il 22 novembre 1797, esecutoriato il 20 gennaio 1798, ottenne, inoltre, la concessione del titolo di marchese e fu Senatore nobile in Messina, nel biennio 1798-99. Non sappiamo se la famiglia di Naso sia una diramazione di quella di Messina. Un dottor Giovan Vito tenne la carica di proconservatore in Naso, nel 1687, e tale carica tenne nel 1752 un Ignazio. Un Francesco fu giurato di detta città nel 1794 ed egli stesso fu annotato nel ruolo dei donativi del 1806, con il titolo di barone di Calanovella. Hanno partecipato alla difesa del Regno delle Due Sicilie, contro l'invasione piemontese del 1860/61: Giuseppe, 1° tenente del "11° Battaglione Cacciatori" e Salvatore, alfiere del "12° Battaglione Cacciatori".
