Nobility crown PierresAntique noblesse vellave fixée au XVIIIème siècle en Auvergne où elle existe encore. On trouve ce nom diversement écrit Pierres et quelquefois Pieyres ou des Pierres. Guillaume, chanoine et prieur de St-Martin de Valams diocèse du Puy, fut témoin de la donation du prieuré de St-Apollinaire de Chanéac à l'abbaye de Pébrac, de 1053 à 1098. Beraud est cité en 1255, comme ayant fait une donation antérieure au profit des moines de St-Pierre-du-Monastier du Puy. Giraud de Baschin héritier de noble Guillaume de Piers, rend hommage en 1301, à Jousserand baron de St-Didier-la-Séauve, pour les biens sis à St-Romain-Lachalm et à Crossanges. Vienne reconnaît tenir en fief de l'évêque du Puy, tout ce qu'il avait aux mas de la Coste-Rousse et de Chazaux mandements de Lapte et de Mézères (1362). Pierre clerc, est témoin en mars 1428, de l'acte d'acquiescement des consuls du Puy à l'édification du convent de Ste-Claire. Filiation depuis noble Jean écuyer, père d'Antoine, mineur en 1504, marié le 20 juillet 1530 à Isabeau de Fay de St-Quentin, fille de Jean et de Charlotte Malet de la Tour-Maubourg. Maintenue en Languedoc le 13 juillet 1669. Convoquée aux bans de la noblesse du Velay en 1675 et 1689. Balthazar seigneur de Planèze, fit enregistrer en 1696, ses armoires dans d'Hozier. Un maître d'hôtel de Marguerite de Pompadour, vicomtesse de Polignac (1522); un capitaine d'infanterie au régiment de Nérestang (1622); un enseigne de la compagnie de M. de la Roue dans le régiment du marquis de Polignac (1639); un volontaire dans l'escadron de la noblesse du Velay au siège de Salces (1639); un député du Puy-de-Dôme: le marquis de Pierre sous le second empire, etc. La branche d'Auvergne a fait ses preuves pour une admission à l'Ecole militaire en 1772, et Joseph-Balthazar en 1787, pour être admis dans l'ordre de Malte.
