Nobility crown PignolletDans le Nobiliaire universel de France, Saint-Allais dit à l'article Pignol: famille noble d'extraction, originaire du Languedoc, divisée en deux branches, dont l'une s'est établie à Sarlat (en Périgord), et l'autre, qualifiée du titre de baron de Rocreuse, fixée à Cormery (en Touraine). La filiation commence à Jean Raimond, chevalier, seigneur de Pignol, lequel rendit hommage des château et domaine de Pignol à Raymond VII, comte de Toulouse, qui en août 1203 lui assigna une pension en récompense de ses services. Il acquit, ajoute St-Allais, le surnom de Vaillant à la bataille de Castelnaudarie, sous les ordres du comte de Foix. Il était frère d'Adolphe, qui fut à la cinquième croisade, sous saint Louis, et fut tué par les Sarrazins à la prise de Damiette, en 1250. Charles, chevalier, issu au sixième degré filiatif de la généalogie dudit Raimond, continua la branche ainée, fixée à Sarlat depuis le 4 février 1573. Plusieurs membres de la famille ont occupé des charges importantes au présidial de Sarlat. Ils portaient, avant la Révolution, le titre de comte. Aux États-Généraux de 1789, figure parmi les votants dans l'Ordre de la Noblesse, à Périgueux: Messire Jean-Baptiste, chevalier, seigneur de la Corvière et autres lieux, habitant de la ville de Sarlat. ...
