Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, questa casata fu portata in Sicilia, anteriormente al secolo decimo sesto, da un cavaliere spagnolo che ivi lasciò discendenza. In Palermo troviamo infatti un Pietro, suo discendente, con la carica di senatore in detta città negli anni 1660 e 1666-68. Anche successivamente la famiglia ha continuato a distinguersi per la pregevolezza dei personaggi a cui ha dato i natali, particolarmente distintisi nelle professioni liberali e nelle carriere militari.
