Família oriunda da região de Basto, descendente por legítima varonia de manuel Ferreira Pinto, nascido em finais do século XVII na freguesia de S.Jorge, do Couto de Abadim, em Cabeceiras de Basto, onde casou com Jerónima Alves, nascida em 1698 e falecida em 1781. Seu filho Domingos Ferreira Pinto Basto, que assim se designou em atenção à região da sua naturalidade, aí nasceu em 2.5.1741, e faleceu no Porto em Agosto de 1820, onde casou a 30.11.1773 com D.Maria do Amor Divino da Costa, de quem teve sete filhas e três filhos de quem ficou vasta e ilustre descendência. A representação desta família encontra-se em Eduardo Luís de Arriaga Pinto Basto, Comandante Piloto Aviador, nascido em 14.5.1944, quarto neto de teodoro Ferreira Pinto Basto, nascido em 1805 e à època chefe desta família. Dele foi também filho Alberto Teodoro Ferreira Pinto Basto, nascido em Londres em 1845, cuja neta paterna D.Maria Teresa Rita de Jesus da Santíssima trindade de Castelo Branco Ferreira Pinto Basto, casou em 4.6.1932 com Miguel de Lima Mayer, filho de Frederico de Lima Mayer e de sua mulher D.Octávia Joyce Fuschini, com geração que continuou estes apelidos.Aos Pinto Basto foi concedida em 1818 Carta de Armas num escudo partido de Ferreiras e Pintos. ...
