Illustre ed antico casato senese, trapiantatosi in Orvieto, sul calare del secolo decimo terzo, e ritenuto discendente da un Polidoro del Caccia, Nobile Senese. Appartenne a questa famiglia Giovanni di Matteo del Caccia, dell'Ordine dei predicatori, autore di un "Cronicon Generale Ordinis et particulare Conventus Sancti Dominici Urbsveteris". La genealogia documentata e ininterrotta della famiglia prende il suo inizio da Polidoro, di Maestro Luca, di Siena. Nel circondario di Orvieto ebbero inoltre vasti possedimenti, al Palazzo Bovarino, a Ficulle, Fabro, Allerona, Torre Alfina, ecc. ed in città possedettero vari palazzi fra cui quello che fu, prima del 1313 dei Filippeschi e quello dei Magalotti, illustre famiglia Orvietana, passata poi in Toscana. A testimonianza dell'antico splendore di questa famiglia, rimane oggi in questa incantevole città, la torre detta ancora Torre dei Pollidori in Via della Loggia dei Mercanti presso la piazza del Comune.
