Nobility crown PonteEste apellido desciende de una noble y antigua familia patricia romana, que se extendió en varias ramas ilustres a Nápoles, Turín, Venecia, Aragón, Génova y Canarias. En el año 962, Luis y Pedro de P. obtuvieron privilegio imperial de Otón I para llamarse Otones y aumentar el blasón de sus armas, que era un puente de dos arcos, superado de dos torres, con el águila imperial coronada y el lema "In Domino fecit virtutem". En Canarias ocupó esta familia lugar preeminentísimo, por el gran número de personajes ilustres que produjo, por la multiplicidad de sus ramificaciones, todas ellas amayorazgadas y opulentas, por los tres títulos de Castilla, a cuya alta Dignidad fueron elevados tres de sus individuos por los Reyes de España (Adeje, Quinta Roja y Palmar), por sus fundaciones religiosas y por sus enlaces con todas las Casas de la Nobleza titulada del país y la mayor parte de la no titulada. Llevan sangre de P., además de los citados, los Villanueva del Prado, Acialcázar y Torre Hermosa, Celada, Casa Hermosa, Florida, Guisla-Ghiselín, Villafuerte, Santa Lucía, Valle de Sallazar, Fuente de Las Palmas, Vega Grande de Guadalupe, Candia, Sauzal y Siete Fuentes. La Casa de P., formó en Canarias dos grandes líneas, subdividadas en seis ramas diferentes. El magnífico Mateo de P., noble patricio de la República de Génova, inscrito en el Libro de Oro del patriciado, fue padre legítimo de Juan Esteban de P., igualmente noble patricio inscrito en el Libro de Oro de dicha República. ...
