Nobility crown PortazEste apellido es muy extendido en la penísula con numerosas casas solariegas. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la repoblación de Tarragona realizada por Ramón Berenguer III y culminada por San Olegario y el caballero normando Robert Bordet a principios del siglo XII. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de la reconstrucción de Cataluña a partir del 11 de Setiembre de 1.714 y en las Guerras Carlistas del siglo XIX. Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Portaz. Son sus armas: En plata, una banda de gules cargada de cuatro chevrones de oro, y acompañada, arriba y abajo, de un lobo andante, de sable, surmontado de una estrella de azur; bordura de gules, con diez aspas de oro. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia P., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento banda quiere decir que pertenecieron a órdenes militares de caballería. Los esmaltes del arma de los P. pregonan los siguientes valores: la Plata corresponde al símbolo de la Luna, pureza, sinceridad, templanza, clemencia y amabilidad son las características espirituales de la familia, a las que hay que añadir otras como el afán de victoria y éxito y la elocuencia. ...
