Maison très antique et d'origine noble. Lieu d'origine de cette famille: Provence. La maintenue de Provence, 1666 (cabinet d'Hozier) donne pour auteur de cette famille Jean Puget, marchand à Saint-Maximin. Lainé, dans son "Dictionnaire des maisons nobles", prétend qu'elle descend de Jean Puget, bourgeois de Brignoles, anobli par le roi Réné, comte de Provence, en mars 1443. Jean-Baptiste Puget, seigneur de Barbetane et de Bras, fut élu premier consul de la ville d'Aix en 1665. Cette maison a constamment fourni des chevaliers à l'ordre de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem depuis la fin du XVIème siècle. Joseph-Honoré, reçu chevalier en 1723, fut ensuite commandeur de l'ordre. Parmi les représentants actuels de cette maison on trouve: Henri Puget de Barbetane, avec titre de marquis confirmé en janvier 1862, chef de nom et d'armes, né en 1824. Soeur: la comtesse Emmanuel de Terrey, née en 1822. Mère: la marquise douairière de Barbetane, née de Gaigneron de Marolles. La plupart des membres de cette famille ont résidé à Barbetane. A ce même nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique, l'assurance d'une valeur historique de patrimoine, de noblesse et de valeur. ...
