Famiglia spagnuola ritenuta, in Spagna, come proveniente degli antichi re di Leòn. Riconosciuta in Italia con D. M. 20 aprile 1915 nel titolo di marchese di San Carlo, e con D. M. 7 maggio 1918 nel titolo di marchese di Montevergine. Questa famiglia ebbe pure concesso il titolo di dica di Sassi-Santomango, nel Regno di Napoli, da Filippo IV, nell'anno 1628, 18 luglio, in persona di Bernardo de Leòn, titoli non riconosciuti finora.
