Trae le sue origini questa famiglia da Graglia-Santuario (Biella), e le prime memorie risalgono ad un messer Jacomino, che viveva verso la fine del secolo XV, e che fu padre di Pietro, Giovanni e Lodovico. Per la documentazione che si conserva presso questa famiglia si ricorda un nobile Francesco, nominato Ricevitore Camerale del duca Carlo II di Savoia nel 1542 in Nizza Marittima; ed un nobile Giovanni, il quale fu segretario del duca Carlo Emanuele II e successivamente della duchessa reggente Giovanna Battista. Ottenne quest'ultimo patenti di conferma dell'arma il 2 agosto 1678, che consegnò il 20 giugno 1687. Sul finire del secolo XVII la famiglia, in persona dell'ingegnere architetto Carlo Francesco, trasferì la sua residenza in Ivrea.
