Gino Bernocco, direttore del Museo e della Biblioteca Adriani, in Cherasco del Piemonte, tenderebbero a dimostrare che, oltre che in Desio e Rogeno in Pieve di Fucino di Brianza dal 1614, come risulta dai registri di quella Parrocchia, le primissime origini sarebbero quelle comuni coi conti Ratticida Mentone di Cherasco, antica famiglia nota sin dal sec. XI che portava per arma "un fasciato d'oro e di nero alla banda di rosso attraversante" e per motto: Virtus beatos efficit.
