Nobility crown RediLa famiglia aretina, nota nella vita pubblica del 1455, nel quale anno Giovanni, di Andrea, fu uno dei Capitani di Parte, venne ammessa al priorato nel 1509, con Antonio di Pietro, ed elevata poi al supremo onore del gonfalonierato per decreto del Consiglio Generale del 30 maggio 1640. Giovan Battista, di Antonio, vestì per giustizia le divise di cavaliere stefaniano il 15 settembre 1675. Appartenne a questa famiglia Francesco, di Gregorio (1626-1698), naturalista e medico insigne, che scrisse intorno alle vipere e alla generazione degli insetti, applicando alle scienze naturali il metodo sperimentale; è notissimo altresì nella storia letteraria per il celebre ditirambo "Bacco in Toscana". Anche il nipote di lui, Gregorio, di Diego, balì stefaniano e gonfaloniere di giustizia nel 1726, fu buon letterato; nè va dimenticata suo Teresa Margherita del Suor di Gesù elevata agli onori dell'altare.
