Los apellidos R., Ramiro o Ramírez son patronímicos derivados del nombre propio Ramiro. En Aragón hubo casas de R., principales y antiguas, en la ciudad de Jaca (Huesca) y en la de Calatayud (Zaragoza). De la primera dimanó la rama que pasó a Palma de Mallorca, quedando allí establecida. Fue su fundador Damián R., natural de Jaca (hijo de Juan R. y de Eulalia Moncada), que llegó a Palma con dos galeras hacia el año de 1400. Estaba casado con Eulalia Cordero, natural de Tarragona, y tenía un hijo llamado Juan, que casó con Magdalena Despí, quedando todos avecindados en dicha ciudad de Palma. El citado Damián R. contribuyó con muchas limosnas a la terminación del claustro del antiquísimo templo de San Francisco, en la capital de Mallorca, y le fue concedida la capilla de San Cosme y San Damián (hoy del Santo Cristo y Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) para su enterramiento y el de sus familiares. Se le autorizó también para fabricar el retablo de dicha capilla, según consta por instrumento del notario Guillermo Salvá, fechado el 10 de julio de 1405. En la misma capilla está el escudo de la familia. Otra casa muy antigua. Hubo casas de este apellido en las villas de Pitillas, Berbinzana, Milagro y Dicastillo, todo en Navarra. Sus individuos probaron repetidamente su nobleza. Entrancaron con los Amatriain, Arellano, Baquedano, Ganuza, Ripa y Zabal, usando apellidos compuestos. ...
