Apellido catalán originario de la villa de Rialp (cuyo nombre tomó), perteneciente al partido judicial de Sort y provincia de Lérida. Tuvo antigua casa solar en la también villa de Anglesola, del partido judicial de Cervera, en la misma citada provincia. Una rama de R. se estableció en Torelló, villa del partido de Vic y provincia de Barcelona, y de esa rama fue Ramón de R., marido de doña Isabel Rosselló, y ambos padres de Magdalena R. Rosselló, natural de Torelló, que casó con Miguel de Parrella Febrer, caballero de San Juan de Jerusalén, y procrearon a Ramón de Parrella y de R., natural de Torelló, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María Ignacia de Vivet y de Asprer, naciendo de esta unión Jaime de Parrella Vivet y R., bautizado en Torelló el 13 de octubre de 1768 y caballero de la Orden de San Juan en 1785. Hermanas suyas fueron doña Escolástica y doña Raimunda, señoras del hábito de San Juan, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña, en 1788. A la misma rama de R., en la villa de Torelló, perteneció José de R. que obtuvo privilegio de noble el 20 de abril de 1665. Fue habilitado en Cortes en los años 1701 y 1702. En 1925, Claudio de R. y Navinés fue creado barón de R. por el rey Alfonso XIII. Las armas se ven en la sepultura de los R., que data del siglo XV, en la iglesia parroquial de Anglesola. ...
