Nobility crown RibierExcellente chevalerie de la Haute-Auvergne, dont la filiation suivie remonte à Jehan, chevalier croisé, époux d'Alix de Lavaur, lequel souscrivit une charte d'emprunt devant Damiette (novembre 1249). Leurs descendants portèrent alternativement le nom de Ribier ou celui de Lavaur. Maintenue dans sa noblesse en Auvergne les 8 octobre 1666, 18 mai 1667 et 6 mai 1706. Parmi les illustrations de cette maison divisée en plusieurs branches, nous citerons: un chanoine-comte de Brioude (1563); un chevalier de l'ordre de St-Lazare de Jérusalem, commandeur de Rosson: Guy ou Gaudain Ribier (1480); un capitaine de cent arquebusiers, gentilhomme de la reine de Navarre (1570); un page de la grande écurie du roi (1755); une demoiselle de St-Cyr (1764); de nombreux officiers de cavalerie; des gardes du corps du roi; des mosquetaires et gendarmes de la garde; des chevaliers de St-Louis; un dépuité aux États généraux d'Orléans (1560); un conseiller de préfecture de la Haute-Loire, auteur d'une statistique de ce département et frère de Jean-Baptiste Ribier, auteur du Dictionnaire du Cantal (1779-1844); de nos jours, un savant généalogiste, etc. Pierre-Alexis, né à Saignes (Cantal), le 25 avril 1795, du second mariage de Jean-François, seigneur de Layre, avec Jeanne Forestier, fit la campagne de Russie dans le 4e régiment des gardes d'honneur de Napoléon Ier et fut médaillé de Ste-Hélène. Il épousa à Allègre, le 25 mai 1803, Elisabeth Garnier et mourut le 17 septembre 1878 à St-Paulien (Hte-Loire) où sa postérité est encore représentée. Très belles alliances. ...
