Ancienne et importante famille de la bourgeoisie du Puy, qui a produit des notaires et juriconsultes distingués. Jean Richond (lat.: Riconis), fils d'Henri, notaire de cette ville dès 1476, épousa Antoinette Roux et exerçait encore en 1498. Claude-Benoît, marchand, spécifie dans son testament, en date de 1505, qu'il veut être inhumé dans le tombeau de ses ancêtres, en l'église des Pères Carmes du Puy. Claude, curé de St-Pierre-la-Tour (1580), était en 1596 chanoine de St-Vosy. Filiation suivie depuis Antoine Richond, maître-tanneur, fils de Jean, né avant 1595 et marié à N. Chabrier. François fut tué en 1595, dans une sortie des troupes du Puy à la poterne d'Avignon. Vers la même époque vivait Jean-Antoine Richond, avocat en la sénéchaussée du Puy, conseiller au présidial. Christophe Richond qualifié seigneur de la Valette, épousa à Yssingeaux, le 21 mars 1680, Margueite Lafayolle de la Bruyère. Autre Antoine, époux de Marie Lyotard, maître-tanneur, consul du Puy (1695-1699), trésorier des Pènitents, offrit en 1700 à la chapelle de cette confrérie un tableau portant ses armoiries. Benoît, son fils, exerçant les mêmes fonctions de consul en 1724, 1736 et 1737, était en même temps administrateur des hôpitaux du Puy. Il épousa en secondes noces, le 3 février 1715 Anne-Philippe Bertrand (fille de Vital et de Clauda Paul) et sa descendance compte: Benoît-Régis, avocat, président de l'Administration centrale de la Haute-Loire, député du Velay, aux États généraux de 1789, père de: 1° Claude-François-Benoît, avocat, député au corps des Cinq-Cents (1789), marié en 1788 à Marie Lanthenas, d'où postérité éteinte; 2° Jean-Denis-Chantal, allié le 10 janvier 1798 à Adélaïde de Colomb de la Tour de Beauzac, d'où: le docteur Adolphe Richond des Brus, député de la Hte-Loire, maire du Puy, officier de la Légion d'honneur, chevalier de l'ordre de Charles III, frère de Jules, président du Tribunal de commerce de la même ville, chevalier de la Légion d'honneur , marié à Clémence Calemard de la Tour et de Albert-Michel Richond, adjoint au maire du Puy (1848), aïeul du représentant actuel du nom; 3e Aimé , d'où posterité éteinte en la personne de la marquise de Causans. ...
