On trouve: Adhémar, homme d'armes en 1151; Aymé, sergent d'armes en 1282; autre Adhémar, capitaine du duc de Bourgogne (1397); Jean, page du duc de Bourgogne (1419); Philippe, capitaine du château de la Roche-Nolay (1485); Jean, gendarme de la Chevaleire du marquis de Saux-Tavanne, tué à la bataille de Rinty (1554); autre Jean, tué à la bataille de Dreux (1562). Parmi les illustrations de cette maison citons encore: un lieutenant de 50 hommes d'armes; un guidon de la Chevalerie du Prince du Maine; des gouverneurs de ville; de nombreux officiers de cavalerie, gardes du corps du roi, chevaliers de St-Louis; un page du Roi, puis capitaine au régiment de Navarre, mort en 1734, etc. Admise aux Etats de Bourgogne (1602-1736). Très belles alliances. Louis Riollet comte de Morteuil, baron de Malain, officier dans l'armée de Condé, fut le père de Louis comte de Morteuil, marié en 1836 à Mlle de Macheco, fille du comte de Macheco, député de la Hte-Loire, d'où posterité fixée de nos jours au château de Chilhac-Tanssac, à la suite d'alliance (1861) avec les de la Bastide. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on a reproduit ci-contre et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique la certitude d'une valeur remarquable. Armes de cette famille: De gueules, au chevron d'or, accompagné de trois étoiles de même. Devise: Plus de sang que d'or. - Cri: A moi Riollet, c'est pour le Duc! ...
