La familia R. es catalana y tuvo su solar en la ciudad de Lérida. Una de las ramas fundó nueva casa en la villa de Tremp, de aquella provincia. Era familia de caballeros y tenía privilegio de escribanía de Corte y veguería de Lérida. Uno de sus individuos fue "paer" (conseller) de dicha ciudad. Otros vistieron el hábito de la Orden de San Juan, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña. También fueron señores de Bimfaró. De la casa solar de Lérida era descendiente en mediados del siglo XVI Felipe R., que en su mujer, doña Ana María de Toralla, tuvo este hijo Juan Bautista de R., que casó con doña Brianda de Vega, naciendo de esa unión Francisco de R. y de Vega, bautizado en Lérida el 21 de junio de 1614 y caballero de la Orden de San Juan en 1636. Sus descendientes fueron, por enlaces, marqueses de Benavent y condes de Casa-Dávalos. A otra rama perteneció Felipe de R., marido de doña Teresa Corriá, y ambos padres de Felipe de R. y Corriá, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María de Guiu y de Bru (hija de Antonio de Guiu y de doña Magdalena de Bru), y procrearon a Francisca de R. y de Guiu, señora del hábito de San Juan, en 1684. ...
