Apellido burgalés, probablemente originario de alguno de los pueblos denominados Robredo que hay en la provincia de Burgos y cuyo nombre tomara. Pasó en tiempos antiguos a Vizcaya, fundando casa solar infanzona en la vila de Lanestosa, del partido judicial de Valmaseda, extendiéndose sus líneas por el Valle de Carranza, que pertenece a dicho partido judicial. Una de esas líneas se estableció en la villa riojana de Torrecilla de Cameros (Logroño). También pasó el apellido a la provincia de Santander y a la de Álava. En esta última tuvo hidalga casa en el lugar de Osma, del partido judicial de Amurrio. Los de la casa de la villa vizcaína de Lanestosa se apellidaron R. de Rozas. En fines del siglo XVI la poseían los siguientes esposos. Martín R. de Rozas, casado con doña Catalina de R. Escudero, vecinos de Lanestosa y padres de Diego Martínez R. de Rozas, natural de Lanestosa, que en su mujer, doña María Santisteban Aedo, tuvo este hijo Diego R. de Rozas, natural del lugar de San Esteban, en el Valle de Carranza, que casó con doña María Gutiérrez, naciendo de esta unión Juan R. de Rozas, que sigue, y Domingo Martínez R. de Rozas. Juan R. de Rozas contrajo matrimonio con doña Catalina Perojo, y procrearon a Juan R. de Rozas y Perojo, marido de doña Ana García, padres de Juan de R. de Rozas García, que efectuó su enlace con doña Catalina de Blas y tuvieron este hijo Juan Santos R. de Rozas, que casó con doña Gabriela García y residieron en el lugar de Oredenta. ...
