Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia che prese il nome (o lo dette) dal castello di Boccabianca costruito prima del 1000 sulla costa adriatica presso Marano (Marche) per difenderla dalle incursioni saracene. Ottone nel 1103 fu testimone alla concessione fatta da Massio principe-vescovo di Fermo a Tebaldo Effredi del castello di Supportica. Questo Ottone sarebbe il capostipite certo dei Boccabianca, i quali furono sempre favorevoli agli imperiali ed ebbero onori e privilegi degli imperatori Federico I e II, ospitando nel 1198 anche il loro vicario Marcovaldo. I Principi-vescovi di Fermo per quasi tre secoli cercarono di sottometterli, senza mai riuscirvi. Finalmente nel 1287 Giovanni di Guglielmo spontaneamente fece atto di sottomissione alla città di Fermo e con il titolo di "Dominus" e altri onori e privilegi si ritirò con tutta la famiglia a Ripatransone.
