Nobility crown RochaApellido de origen gallego. De las cercanías de Padrón en La Coruña. Una rama pasó a Cáceres y luego a Canarias. El primer solar de este linaje es el castillo de la R., fundado en Galicia, por un Caballero francés que intervino en su Conquista. Más tarde se levantaría otro castillo y una casa fuerte entre los ríos Trava y Urdel. El Capitán Domingo de la R. contrajo matrimonio con Doña Mariana Rodríguez Ferrer en Las Palmas el 20 de mayo de 1641, siendo padres de Don José de la R. y Ferrer, Regidor Perpetuo de Gran Canaria, Capitán de Milicias y Sargento Mayor de la Isla, nacido en Santa Cruz de Tenerife y bautizado en la Iglesia de la Concepción, el 13 de enero de 1647. Casó con Doña Josefa Simona de Bethencourt Castrillo, hija de Francisco de Bethencourt Camacho, Regidor de Gran Canaria y de Doña Margarita Gómez Castrillo, su esposa. Fueron padres de: Don Cristóbal de la R. y Bethencourt, Coronel del Regimiento Provincial de Telde y más tarde, en 1740, del de Las Palmas. Don Antonio de la R. y Bethencourt, hijo del anterior, fue también Coronel del Regimiento Provincial de Telde y Alcaide Perpetuo de la Casa-Fuerte de Santa Cruz del Romeral. Arquitecto ilustre, realizador de importantes obras de construcción, como el Hospital de San Martín de Las Palmas y la actual Basílica de Nuestra Senóra del Pinoen Teror, en cuya reconstrucción trabajo durante siete años. ...
