Nobility crown RolletCette famille suivant la tradition, venue en Velay au XIVème siècle, avec Georges, résidant à Aurec dès 1440, qualifié chevalier, lequel servit avec distinction dans les armées du roi Charles VII et épousa en Italie une Florentine. Seigneur ou Sieur de la Vallée, ressort de Quimperlé. Armorial géneral de France de 1696, manuscrit de la Bibliothéque nationale. Etablie en 1537 en Auvergne, elle a produit: André, consul d'Ambert, qui périt en 1577, lors de la défense de cette ville contre les protestants; des religieux et dignitaires de l'abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu; deux chanoines-comtes de Brioudé 1520-1532; des hommes d'armes; un lieutenant-colonel au régiment d'Orléans-Infanterie guillotiné sous la Terreur (1794). Une branche de cette maison, probablement l'aînée, était installée depuis le XVIème siècle, en Languedoc. Elle a fait de belles alliances, et produit des personnages remarquables. Citons, parmi ses alliances, les familles: de Saleron, d'Assas, d'Albignac. Jean-Guillaume, maréchal de camp des armées du Roi, chef d'état-major de l'armée de M. le duc de Lévis au Canada, mort en 1796. ...
