En el concejo de Trucios, del partido judicial de Valmaseda (Vizcaya) hay un barrio denominado Romañá, cuyo nombre tiene, sin duda, estrecha relación con la familia así apellidada. O ésta dió nombre a dicho barrio o tomó el de éste por apellido. Porque la familia R. tuvo su casa y asiento en el concejo y Valle de Trucios. En mediados del siglo XVI era descendiente de esa casa Lorenzo de R. Mavia, natural del Valle de Trucios y padre de Juan de R., bautizado en el Valle de Trucios el 19 de Mayo de 1574, que casó con doña María Varón de Urdiales, de la misma naturaleza, y procrearon a Domingo de R. y Varón, bautizado en el Valle de Villaverde el 17 de Marzo de 1623, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Ana Iñigo de Santibáñez, naciendo de esta unión Domingo de R. Iñigo, bautizado en el misma Valle el 11 de Octubre de 1658, casado con doña Lucía Hernando, de quien tuvo este hijo Lorenzo de R. Hernando, bautizado en el Valle de Villaverde el 15 de Abril de 1695. Casó con doña Ventura Santibáñez y fueron padres de Joaquín Ventura, Manuel, Francisco Antonio e Isidoro de R. Santibáñez, vecino del Valle de Villaverde y de Madrid, que obtuvieron provisión de vizcainía el 22 de Marzo de 1781. En Cataluña hubo otra familia apellidada R. y probablemente originaria de alguno de los dos lugares denominados R. de Besalú y R. de la Selva que hay en la provincia de Gerona, cuyo primer nombre tomara por apellido. ...
