Nobility crown RomagosaLos historiadores Jerónimo de Zurita, en sus Anales de Aragón, y fray Manuel Mariano de Rivera, en su centuria Mercenaria, tratan de este muy antiguo apellido, afirmando que tuvo su origen en Cataluña. Su primitivo solar radicó cerca de la villa de Hostalric, del partido judicial de Santa Coloma de Farners y provincia de Gerona. De ese solar procedió Geraldo R., primer caballero de este linaje de quien se tiene noticia. Fue uno de los que intervinieron en los arreglos de las belicosas diferencias que mantenían Ugo, conde de Ampuries, y Dalmacio de R., según consta en escritura firmada el 30 de mayo de 1228 ante el notario Bernardo Esteva y que se guardaba en el archivo del duque de Cardona. Diego R. era caballero de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén en el año 1260. Bernardo R. y Palau asistió al acto de la unión del reino de Mallorca y de los condados de Rosellón y Cerdeña, al condado de Barcelona, realizada por el rey don Pedro III de Aragón en la capilla real de aquella ciudad, el 28 de mayo de 1344. Pedro R. fue designado, en 1378, para la gobernación de Lugudor, en Cerdeña. Y otros caballeros del mismo apellido continuaron en Cataluña distinguiéndose en la política y en las armas. También pasaron los R. a Aragón y Valencia, dejando descendencia en esas regiones. ...
