Monsieur H. de Jouvencel donne dans son beau volume: l'assemblèe de la noblesse de la Sénéchaussée de Lyon en 1789, la génèalogie de cette famille. Le plus ancien personnage que cite cet auteur est Jeanne établi à Chomérac et mariée à Alexandrine Chambaud au commencement du XVIIIème siècle. Les registres paroissiaux de la région de Chomérac contiennent de nombreux actes intéressant cette famille qui s'allia aux bonnes maisons de ce pays. Autre famille originaire du Velay: Augier, chevalier en 1233; Hervé, vivant en 1375, père de Jean, vivant en 1400, marié à Sibille de Quilbignon; Hardy, chambellan de Louis, dauphin de France en 1424 épouse Marie Doudart; Berthelot, ratifie le traité de Guérande entre les nobles de Rennes en 1381; Perrine, épouse en 1429, Jean Hay, seigneur des Nétumières; Claude, maître des requêtes d'Henri II, épouse en 1551, Marie Potier de Blancmesnil, dont: Nicolas, président à mortier au parlement de Bretagne en 1601, puis au parlement de Rouen, en 1602; Renée, mariée à François de Scépeaux, maréchal de France en 1562; Charles, chevalier de Malte en 1654; un page du Roi en 1708; branche fondue dans Briot: un chevalier de Malte en 1787; un maréchal de camp nommé par le Roi, en 1795, mort en 1817. Jean, croisé en 1248; (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois) mais nous ne savons pas à quelle famille il appartenait. Richard, de la paroisse de Trédrez, entendu dans l'enquête pour la canonisation de Saint Yves en 1330; Geoffroi, vivant en 1427, épouse Anne de Coëtgoureden, dame de Kerninon.
