Hugues Ruffo de la famille de Ruffi ou Ruffo, de Naples, s'établit en Dauphiné vers le milieu du XIIIème siècle; le dauphin Humbert l'accueilit et l'attacha à sa cour avec le titre de conseiller. Le nom de Ruffi fut traduit en français, après l'édit du roi, qui prohiba les noms étrangers dans les actes publics, en celui de des Roux, qui par corruption devint Deiroux dans l'idiome de la haute Provence. En 1747 le seigneur de Ruffi de Pontevès-Gevaudan, à cette époque établi dans les Basses-Alpes, reprit le nom de Ruffi en vertu de la décision de la commission des sceaux et titres. Son fils fut baptisé sous le nom de Félix-Tristan Ruffi. Le nom de Pontevès, des comtes de Gévaudan, a passé dans la famille de Ruffi ou Ruffo vers la fin du XVIème siècle par adoption et substitution d'Hector de Pontevès, dernier seigneur de Silans t de Gévaudan; à la même époque de 1747 cette substitution fut confirmée par lettres patentes du roi. Parmi les représentants actuels de cette maison on trouve: Antoine Ruffi de Ponteves-Gévaudan, ancien conseiller et président de la cour à la Martinique, dont: Ernest-Félix-Tristan, lieutenant; Charles-Antone-Léon, lieutenant; N... mariée à Ernest du temps du Gris, lieutenant-colonel d'artillerie de marine; N. mariée à Jules baron de Crisenoy. Nièces: Fille de feu Joseph-Etienne-Félix Tristan Ruffi de Ponteves Gévaudan. N... mariée au comte de Belligny; N..... mariée à Berlin de Villeneuve. ...
