La maison de Roux de Bonneval (Ruffo en Sicilie), est une branche cadette de celle de Ruffi, en latin. Poncet Ruffi fut le fondateur de cette famille en Provence. Le vicomte Ruffo fut admis aux honneurs de la Cour le 1er mars 1785. Acace, seigneur de Bonneval, fils cadet de Pierre et de Marguerite Emerigue, épousa à Marseille demoiselle Claire Olive en 1626, et acheta le fief de Bonneval en 1661, de M. de Lauris seigneur de Taillade, il en fit hommage au roi en 1668. Une déclaration notariée du 6 décembre 1731, par messire François de Roux seigneur de Beauvezet et de Lamanon atteste et reconnaît que la famille de Roux des seigneurs de Bonneval, est la même que la sieune, toutes deux issues du même tronc et un arrêt du 19 juin 1733, maintint Roux seigneur de Bonneval dans sa noblesse d'ancienne extraction, lui et ses déscendants nés et à naître.
