Un Gerardo S. di lui figlio la recò in Sicilia sotto re Alfonzo, dal quale ottenne in compenso di suoi militari servigi il governo della città di Nicosia; di là i suoi posteri si sparsero in Polizzi, Palermo ed altre città dell'Isola. Un Nicolò S. fu maestro razionale di cappa e spada del tribunale del R. Patrimonio, avendo ottenuto conferma dei feudi Rocca, Gerace, Valdilli 1474, non che del feudo di Malpertuso 1479. Lo stemma della famiglia Sabia è: D'azzurro, con una fascia cucita di rosso orlata d'oro, caricata da due mezzelune affrontate d'argento. Si vuole che sia d’origine Normanna e che sia stata portata in Sicilia ai tempi di re Alfonso.
