On trouve cette maison diversement mentionné Salomon, Salamon, Salomony ou Salomon de la Chapelle. La branche sicilienne de cette famille, originaire de Termini, s'est éteinte, quant aux mâles, en la personne de D. Giuseppe Salomone, second duc d'Albafiorita (mort en 1747). Par acte du 20 mai 1717, D. Pompeo a constaté sa communauté d'origine avec la famille Salomon de Provence. Et son représentant sicilien d'Aujourd'hui, Gaetano Crescimanno di Albafiorita, lequel en qualité de descendant d'Eleonora Salamone porte les titres de cette maison et les armoiries décrites ci-contre, reçonnait sa parenté avec la famille Salomon du Vivarais. Dans la seconde moitié du XVIème siècle, postérieurement au massacre d'Aix, 22 juin 1562, la famille Salomon s'est établie à l'endroit encore appelé Salomony, près de Saint-Julien d'Orcival dit Marcols, dans ce haut pays des Boutières qui servit de refuge à beaucoup de protestants. Elle a fourni à la province du Vivarais bon nombre de notaires et aux régiments de Louvigny, Morangiès, Bourbonnais, Lachau-Montauban, de nombreux capitaines. A deux reprises, à la Révocation et au début du XVIIIème siècle, certains de ses membres se réfugièrent à Genève. Leur descendants sont rentrés en France au commencement du XIXème siècle. Plusieurs membres de cette famille ont porté le particule, sont qualifiés de nobles dans les actes et ont servi dans des régiments nobles. Mais aucun d'entre eux ne possédait fief en 1789. M. François Salamon ou Salomon, commis à la santé lors de la peste de Montélimar (1564), épousa Clémence Bricet d'une famille consulaire de cette ville. Il eut pour fils: Jean-Pierre, notaire royal, deputé au Synode d'Annonay (1670), secrétaire au Synode de Chalencon (1672), ancien de l'église de Marcols, mort à Marcols en 1676. A la Révocation, sa femme, Sibylle Laurens, se réfugia à Genève avec ses fils cadets dont l'un, Jean, alla servir à l'étranger. Les aînés, Lancelot qui suit, André, capitaine au régiment de Bourbonnais, Isaac, capitaine au régiment de Morangiès, restèrent au pays.
