Un Franco del capitano Medoro, medico di valore e buon letterato (1705-1776), da Sestola sua patria trasferì la famiglia, che era annoverata tra le primarie del Frignano, alla Mirandola. Il duca Francesco III d'Este, con suo chirografo 27 giugno 1761, accordavagli, come a tutta la sua discendenza maschile in infinito, la cittadinanza nobile di Mirandola. Distinti dottori di leggi e letterati furono Luigi di Franco 1743-1814 e Carlo (1795-1860), autore quest'ultimo, fra l'altro di un Repertorio Generale della nobiltà mirandolese, che si conserva inedito presso l'Archivio Municipale della Mirandola. Il 1 dicembre 1818 la Comunità della Mirandola riconfermava ad Antonio ed alla sua discendenza maschile in infinito il titolo di nobile della Mirandola, ed altrettanto concedeva il 20 aprile 1837 al dott.
