Sólo se sabe que desde antiguas tiempos radicaron familias así apellidadas en Navarra, Cataluña, Mallorca y Valencia. La rama de Mallorca reconocía por tronco a Pedro S., nacido en Navarra, que pasó a dicha isla XIV, quedando en ella establecido. Ya en el siglo XV poseían sus sucesores grandes heredades en la villa de Buger, del partido judicial de Inca. Desde Burger se trasladó una línea de esta familia a la villa de Inca, donde se avecindó, y en el año 1510 adquirió, y fundó con ella mayorazgo, la vasta hacienda llamada de "Binisali", que luego experimentó varias divisiones, pero quedando la mayor parte en la casa de S. Aún la poseía en mediados del pasado siglo. En Buger y en Inca desempeñaron siempre los de este linaje los cargos públicos por el estado noble y fueron generosos bienhechores de la iglesia de la villa de Inca, cuya nueva fábrica se debió en gran parte a sus valiosos donativos. El jefe de esta opulenta familia, don Nicolás S. y Danús, casó con doña Inés Cardá en 1792 y trasladó su casa a la ciudad de Palma.
