Antica e nobile famiglia di Osimo, che riconosce per capostipite un conte Ugolino, signore del Castello di Monte Zaro in quel di Osimo, vivente nell'anno 1130. Distrutto nell'anno 1177 nelle guerre tra Recanati ed Osimo, detto castello, Ugolino, juniore, suo figlio, venne a stabilirsi con tutta la famiglia in Osimo. Qui nel 1205, Sinibaldo, fratello di Ugolino, juniore, fu eletto podestà, e nel 1208 ebbe tale carica l'Ugolino stesso.
