Famiglia assai antica e nobile. Un Antonio Sircana, che fu avvocato collegiato nella R. Università di Sassari, assessore e censore della stessa Università, tanto nell'adempimento dei suoi doveri d'ufficio, quanto nella qualità di membro di varie commissioni, ben aveva meritato per i suoi eminenti meriti una degna ricompensa. Difatti, il re Vittorio Amedeo III, coi diplomi in data 11 dicembre 1792, gli concedeva i titoli di cavalierato e di nobiltà, trasmissibili ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi.
Il predetto concessionario l'11 novembre 1826 si sposò in Alghero con Carolina Cugia. Il loro figlio Tommaso Sircana, nato a Sassari il 18 febbraio 1838, sposò nella stessa città di Sassari il 18 marzo 1863 Margherita Guglielmi.
