Nobility crown SommarivaAntichissima famiglia di Lodi, della quale le prime memorie risalgono al 924, quando un Pietro Sommariva vendeva parte del castello di Turano e del palazzo di Vairano a Tommaso Vignati, fratello di Egidio, vescovo di Lodi Vecchio. Un discendente del predetto Pietro, Arcembaldo, console di Lodi, ricevette, con altri colleghi, l'investitura di quella città dall'imperatore Federico I, il 3 agosto 1158; un Anselmo intervenne, quale ambasciatore di Lodi, alla famosa capitolazione della pace di Costanza; un Fossado, con altri cittadini, nel novembre 1211, sopì le discordie fra il popolo e la nobiltà, con una pace generale che però ebbe breve durata; un Uberto intervenne con altri cittadini lodigiani, nel 1277, alla dieta tenuta in Milano dalle città di Novara, Bergamo, Lodi, Brescia, Como, Vicenza, Padova, Mantova, Ferrara e Parma, con i marchesi di Monferrato e d'Este, per riformare l'antica lega lombarda; Giacomo fu tra coloro che tennero in pieno dominio ...

D'azzurro, al leone di rosso, abbracciante una banda d'oro passante sopra il suo corpo.

Blasone della famiglia Sommariva in Verona. Fonte bibliografica: "Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane estinte e fiorenti" vol.II, compilato dal Comm. G.B. di Crollalanza, edito presso la direzione del giornale araldico, Pisa 1888. Note: Fin dal 942 si trova onorevole menzione di Astolfo e di Bianco cavaliere di questa famiglia; altro Bianco nel 1180 fu uno dei primi giureconsulti della sua età, e nel secolo XIV lo furono pare Baviero, Giovanni, e Bianchino. Leone fu assai prode nell'armi nel XIII secolo, al tempo delle fazioni guelfa e ghibellina, ed avendo avuta la peggio si ricoverò in Oriente dov' ebbe figli e nipoti sollevati alla signoria dell' isola di Paro, e duchi d' Andro. Un Giorgio Sommariva fu poeta, governatore di Gradisca e cavaliere; Aurelio e Bianco condottieri di gente d'armi; e Giovanni sopraintendente a tutti i forti soggetti ai dominio veneto. Questa casa nel 1414 conseguì l'ascrizione al nobile Consiglio Veronese, fu elevata ai primi onori municipali, si diramò in Napoli, a Belluno, in Francia ed altrove.
