Originaria di Lugano, o come altri vogliono di Bergamo, si trapiantò in Venezia per esercitarvi la mercatura. Bartolomeo Stazio nel 1653 fu ammesso alla veneziana nobiltà con tutta la sua discendenza, la quale si estinse nel XVIII secolo, e ne fu erede la nobile famiglia Priuli. Molte famiglie che dimoravano in Venezia appartenevano alla nobiltà.
