Nous empruntons à l'Armorial du Dauphiné la note suivante: la famille Suares ou Suarez, originaire de Cordoue, en Espagne, où elle tenait un rang considérable, vint se fixer à Avignon vers l'an 1530 en la personne de Didace Suarez, qui laissa une postérité illustrée pendant plusieurs générations par les dignités de l'Eglise. Guy Allard mentionne: Jacques Suarez, président en la cour royale d'Alcala en 1495, ses fils, Jean et Pierre, qui passèrent de Cordoue à Avignon, Joseph, président de Rote en 1570, et Joseph II, son fils, comte palatin, chevalier de l'ordre du pape, vers l'an 1600. François-Marie, frère du célèbre Joseph-Marie Suarez, évêque de Vaison, épousa le 15 mai 1635, Elisabeth de l'Espine, dame d'Aulan, qui lui apporta de riches possessions en Dauphiné, entre autres, les terres d'Aulan et d'Autane. M. de Suarez, marquis d'Aulan, dernier représentant mâle de sa famille, ne laissa que deux filles: 1° Marie-Suzanne-Régis-Josephine, qui suit; 2° Henriette-Marie-Gabrielle-Régis, mariée à M. de Bressac, de Valence et morte sans postérité. Marie-Suzanne-Régis-Joséphine épousa M. Jean-Jospeh-Valéry d'Harouard, qui joignit à son nom celui de Suarez, et périt victime du tribunal révolutionnaire d'Avignon, laissant un fils. Cette maison est actuellement représentée par le marquis d'Aulan et ses fils; le comte François d'Aulan, ancien député de la Drôme, conseiller municipal de Paris, marié à Mademoiselle de Geoffre de Chabrignac, et le comte Henri d'Aulan, mariè à Mademeoiselle de Gaudemaris. ...
