Antichissima famiglia fiesolana, proprietaria di vasti latifondi in quel di Figline (Valdarno), dove aveva dato il suo nome a un vilaggio e ad una contrada presso la costa di Firenze, chiamata "Via Monte Cuccoli". Un ramo di questa famiglia al tempo della famosa pestilenza descritta dal Boccaccio (1348) era trasmigrata in Croazia, dove aveva sempre ottenuto nobile trattamento, e un Capitano C. era comandante di un distaccamento delle truppe Austriache venute in Toscana nel 1800.
