Ilustre linage, originario de Cataluña, de donde se ha estendido en otros muchos puntos de España. Una de sus ramas se arraigó desde muy antiguo en las Islas Baleares, donde empezó a conocerce poco tiempo despues de su conquista; pues en el año 1265, Pedro y Bartolomé S. fueron diputados por las villas de Muro y Alcudia para jurar obediencia y vasallage al rey Don Alonso III de Aragón. Berenguer S. fué uno de los primeros pobladores de la villa de Felanitx cuando la fundó el rey Don Jaime II, año 1300. Andrés S., como representante de la espresada villa de Felanitx, y Berenguer S., diputado por la de Campos, en 1343 prestaron homenage al rey Don Pedro IV. Juan S., caballero principalísimo, en 1420 fué baile general del reino de Mallorca, y en 1425 fué nombrado maestre mayor de Seca. Andrés S., en 1459 era conseller del reino de Mallorca, y fué uno de los encargados de recibir y arengar al príncipe Don Carlos; y en 1462 levantó una compañía de cien infantes, con la que pasó a servir en el ejército del rey Don Juan II en la guerra de Cataluña. Era jurado de Mallorca en la época de 1475 y 1476, en que aquella isla quedó contagiada; y fueron tan señalados los servicios y cuantiosos los desembolsos que hizo en aquella ocasion, que mereció que S.M. le diese las gracias y le condecorase con privilegio de caballero, que se espidió en 17 de mayo de 1477. Nicolás S. sirvió diez años a S.M. en las guerras de Italia, y en 1591 fué síndico de Mallorca a la corte de Felipe II. ...
