Nobility crown TamayoCuenta la tradición que este apellido corresponde a un caballero, Capitán y privado del Rey Don Alonso el Casto, llamado Don Gome, quien habiendo alcanzado una gran victoria contra los moros, dio cuenta al Monarca, en estos términos: "Señor, a tal mayo, como haya otros, no quedará moro ni mora". A ésto el Rey le contestó: "Llamaos por amor de mí de acquí en adelante, Talmayo". Siendo ya anciano, el tal Don Gome pidió mercedes en el valle de Cardancha, donde mandó hacer su Casa Solar y dos torres, poniéndoles su nombre. Junto a ellas se fundó años después, el lugar de Tamayo, a media legua de Oña y dieciséis de Burgos. De las ilustres Casas que proceden de este tronco común, pueden contarse los Marqueses de Casa T., título creado por Carlos III en 1775; los Marqueses de la Gomera, creados en 1817 y la familia de T., establecida en Aranda de Duero. Un descendiente de esta línea, Don José Zoa Tomás Antonio de T. y Arce, hijo menor de Don Francisco de T. Aranda y Durango y Doña María Rafaela de Arce, Señores de la Casa de Tamayo, nacido el 5 de julio de 1746 en Aranda de Duero, siendo Capitán del Real Cuerpo de Artillería, fue destinado a las Islas Canarias, casando en la iglesia parroquial de la Concepción de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, el 11 de abril de 1787, con Doña Isabel Micaela Juana de la Hanty y Bignoni, perteneciente a una noble familia irlandesa, afincada en Canarias. ...
