Nobility crown TarregaFamiglia patrizia genovese, che discende da un Pietro, notaio, morto intorno al 1222, del luogo di Carrega in diocesi di Tortona; la quale, passata in Genova, vi esercitò subito onorevoli commerci e professioni. Da Samuele di Michele di detto Pietro nacquero, fra gli altri figliuoli, Bartolomeo, il notaio Giovanni, Nicolò, Geronimo, Pietro, Paolo (secolo XIV-XV), i quali furono capostipiti i altrettante linee, alcune estintesi, altre ancora oggi fiorenti. Nella riforma costituzionale genovese del 1528 i Carrega vennero ascritti al patriziato, alcuni nell'albergo Sàuli, altri nell'albergo De Marini. Altra famiglia di tale cognome fu più tardi aggregata alla nobiltà di Genova (29 novembre 1646) a richiesa di un Alessandro (nato circa 1578) di Stefano, che presentò per tal uopo alla repubblica l'oblazione di dugentoquarantamila reali.
