Nobility crown TeggiaAntica famiglia originaria di Reggio-Emilia, di cui nella nuova patria prese il nome. Antonio, del fu Rainero, insieme ai suoi figli Luigi, Filippo e Pietro, nel 1411 fu ascritto alla cittadinanza veronese, e nello stesso secolo, Filippo e Carlo furono canonici della Cattedrale di Verona. Fecero parte del nobile Consiglio Antonio nel 1405, Luigi e Lodovico nel 1517, Giovan-Pietro nel 1582, e Bartolomeo nel 1616, e questo fu l'ultimo ascrittovi di questa casa. Un'altra famiglia, detta pure Marescalchi, da Piacenza, si trapiantò in Verona, ed un Giovanni Marescalchi nel 1441 fu rettore di S. GIusto, allora chiesa parrocchiale. Fu costume, infatti, delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Impero, in quella "inondatione de' Barbari", avendo i loro cognomi, così come i loro beni, smarrito, e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi,dai nomi dei propri paterni, e dei maggiori. ...
