La noble familia de T., toma su nombre de la ciudad de T. en la provincia de Cáceres, de donde era natural Juan Muñoz, caballero Hijodalgo notorio, cuyos hijos fueron: Antón de T. y Pedro Muñoz de T. Altamirano, nacidos en la misma ciudad. Antón de T. se avecindó en Sevilla, donde vivió casado con la noble señora María Fernández, hija de Gregorio Fernández, caballero principal. Fue declarado noble Hijodalgo notorio de Casa y Solar conocido en 1450, gozando en Sevilla de los privilegios, exenciones e inmunidades de su clase. De los cuatro hijos que tuvo en su matrimonio, el segundo, Gregorio de T. Altamirano, se estableció en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a poco de la conquista de esta isla. Gregorio de T. contrajo matrimonio con Doña Francisca de Ossorio, hija de Martín de Ossorio, ilustre Conquistador de las Islas, Gobernador y Capitán General de Fuerteventura. Fueron hijos de tal enlace, García de T. Ossorio y Altamirano, que sigue la línea; Don Luis de T. Ossorio, Canónigo de la Catedral y Doña María Orellana T. Ossorio, que casó en Las Palmas con Pedro Ortiz, caballero servillano. Alonso Fernández de Lugo nombró teniente gobernador al Bachiller Hernando de T., cargo que desempeñó los años de 1497-98 por primera vez y, por segunda, desde 1508 a 1509. ...
