According to what has been handed down, this is a knightly family originally from the city of Wieluń. The name of this family also recurs with a certain continuity in the ancient records of its homeland. From about the 17th-18th century we know that at least two family branches have placed their home elsewhere: one in Russia, the other in Germany. In Russia we know that a Kondrat and an Auchim Tymoszuk were flourishing as early as 1625. Some heraldic reconstructions have it that the noble Tymaeus of Germany are indeed a branch of the Tymoszuk of Poland, changed in the surname probably to escape some persecution.
