Hubo casas de este apellido en la anteiglesia de Erandio, del partido de Bilbao (Vizcaya), y en la villa de Motrico, del partido de Vergara (Guipúzcoa). Una de ellas, y antigua, y que figura entre las originarias y pobladoras de la provincia de Guipúzcoa, radicó en la jurisdicción de la villa de Zumárraga, del partido judicial de Vergara. De ella procedió Doña María U., natural de Zumárraga, que casó con Pedro Fernández de Jaraba y procrearon a Juana o María de U., en quien tuvo dos hijos bastardos Don Alvaro Martínez de Luna, Copero Mayor del Rey Don Enrique III y Señor de la villa de Cañete. En Vizcaya radicó una casa de este apellido en la anteiglesia de Erandio, del partido judicial de Bilbao. De ella era descendiente en fines del siglo XVI, Pedro de U. y Asúa, que casó con doña Ana de Butrón, natural de la anteiglesia de San Juan de Sondica, del mismo partido de Bilbao. Estos esposos fundaron un mayorazgo el 17 de Julio de 1626, que poseyó después su hijo Pedro de U. y Butrón, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Bárbara de Taborga, y fueron padres de Pedro de U. y Taborga, que celebró dos matrimonios: el primero, con doña Clara de Oidelin, y el segundo, con doña Tomasa Josefa y Tomás de U. y Oidelin. Del segundo enlace fueron hijos Pedro, María Manuela y Manuela de U. y Ortiz de Zárate. Estos seis hermanos sostuvieron un pleito de hidalguía en la Chancillería de Valladolid, que prosiguieron sus sucesores. Se dió ejecutoria el 29 de Marzo de 1745. ...
