Su solar primitivo estuvo en Villafranca del Bierzo, con cuyos antiguos Marqueses tienen estrecho enlace de parentesco, por el matrimonio de Doña María de V., con Don Alvaro Ossorio, Señor de Villafranca, progenitor de esta noble Casa, hoy de los Duques de Medina Sidonia, Grande de España de primera clase. La Casa de V. formó en Canarias tres ramas principales: La primera cuyo tronco fue Garci Fernández de V., I del nombre, originario del antiguo Solar de Galicia, natural y vecino de la Villa de Alcántara, en Extremadura. Su hijo, el Bachiller Garci Fernández de V., casó en Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz), con Doña Isabel Xuárez de Figueroa, prima de Don Lorenzo Suárez de Figueroa, Señor de las Villas de Feria, Zafra, La Parra y Villalba etc...etc. De dicho matrimonio nacieron Cristóbal de V., que sigue la línea y dos hermanos más, todos nacidos en Jerez de los Caballeros. Este Cristóbal, Licenciado en Jurisprudencia, pasó a Tenerife en 1514, por orden de la Reina Doña Juana, como Juez de Residencia y Teniente General de Don Alonso Fernández de Lugo, Adelantado de las Islas Canarias. Casó en La Laguna con Doña Isabel de Lugo Bahamonde, dejando once hijos, de su matrimonio. La casa de V. en La Palma está formada por un descendiente en octavo grado, de Cristóbal de V. mencionado anteriormente. Melchor de V. Prieto y Lugo, era hermano segundo de Don Francisco de V., IV del nombre. ...
