Nobility crown VealleHaute bourgeoisie de Langeac, anoblie par une charge de finances. On trouve son nom diversement écrit Veal, Veale ou Vealle. Jean, seigneur du Chambon, conseiller du roi, était maire de Langeac en 1696. Dans l'inventaire de ses biens figurent: Jean, sieur de Boisset; Jean-Jacques, sieur de Beauregard; Balthazar, écuyer, sieur du Blau, du Chambon, époux de Jeanne de la Fage; autre Jean, chanoine et sacristain de Langeac et Anne, damoiselle du Blau, marié le 3 février 1695 à Ignace Torrilhon, sieur du Croizet. Amable Veal (fils de Balthazar), écuyer, seigneur du Chambon, etc., marié à Madeleine-Pétronille du Fraisse, vivait en 1746. Jean-Melchior chevalier, seigneur du Chambon, du Blau, de Beauregard, de Peyrusse, etc., officier au régiment de la Reine-Cavalerie (1773), épousa demoiselle Rancilhac de Chazelles. Leur fils ainé, Jean-Balthazar, officier de l'armée de Condé, chevalier de St-Louis, émigré, fut maire de Langeac pendant la Restauration et mourut le 23 décembre 1859, dernier representant de cette famille. Parmi les illustrations de cette maison citons: des chanoines de l'église collégiale du chapitre de Langeac; plusieurs officiers, chevaliers de St-Louis, dont un capitaine au régiment de Beauvoisis, émigré et blessé le 13 août 1796 au combat d'Ober-Kamlack.
