Don Luis V. de Figueroa formó parte de la comitiva que acompañó a la princesa Doña Juana, madre del Rey portuguéz Don Sebastán. Don Luis era hijo de Don Egas V. y de su mujer Doña Leonor Carrillo, nieto de otro Don Egas V., quinto señor de Luque, del Consejo de los Reyes Católicos y de Doña Isabel de Montemauor. Por línea de varón era décimosegundo nieto de Don Pedro V., que estuvo en la conquista de Córdoba. Don Alonso de V., según relatan las crónicas, fue uno de los principales conquistadores de la isla de Gran Canaria y defensor de la misma ante las tropas invasoras de Van der Doez. Caballeros de este apellido probaron su nobleza en las Ordenes de Santiago, Calatrava, y Carlo III; en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid y en la Real Compañía de Guardias Marinas. Don Egas Salvador y V. de Córdoba, X Señor de Luque y XII Señor de la Casa de V., fue creado Conde de Luque en 1624; Don Simón Joaquín V. y Espinosa fue creado Conde de la Mejorada en 1730, y Don Francisco Javier V., Marqués de la Reunión de Nueva España, en 1816. ...
