Nobility crown VentrescaAntica famiglia abruzzese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata in un soprannome, basato sull'omonimo termine dialettale, con il significato di "lardo", riferito, probabilmente, ad una particolare ghiottoneria nei confronti di tal alimento, di un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. In ogni modo, tal casato venne, verosimilmente, fregiato del cavalierato, in seguito alla partecipazione, sotto i vessilli aragonesi, connotata da coraggio e virtù, di un Michele Ventresca alla guerra d'Otranto, del 1481, contro gli Ottomani. Ma, d'altronde, la famiglia, sempre, riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: Antonio, consigliere di re Federico III; Flavio, giustiziere d'Abruzzo Citra, vivente nel 1452; D. Raffaele, Canonico e Pronotario Apostolico, vivente in Napoli, nel 1534; Leonardo, dottore in Sacra Teologia, vivente in L'Aquila, nel 1563; Saverio, notaio, vivente in Nereto, ...
